Flat Invoice is a US sole proprietorship. This page says what we store and who else handles it. The Terms cover fees and acceptable use.

Data we store

We store your name, email, and a hash of your password. We store the invoices you create: client name and email, line items, notes, due dates, status, and the payment instructions you choose to show your clients. We also store records of Flat Invoice fees you pay. That data lives in a Postgres database. We do not sell it.

Email

We send mail through Resend: a welcome message, invoice messages to your clients, overdue reminders, and password resets. Invoice and reminder mail uses your email as Reply-To so a client can answer you. System mail uses our own reply address.

Payments

Stripe processes the $2 send fee and Pro subscriptions. Stripe receives those card details; we store the status and the amount, not full card numbers. Your clients pay you directly using the payment instructions on your invoice. Flat Invoice does not process, receive, or see those payments.

Online payments are optional. If you connect your own Stripe account, we store that account’s id, whether it can take charges, and your online payment settings. A client who pays online does so on your own Stripe account under Stripe’s terms and privacy policy; Stripe receives their card or bank details, and we receive only the amount, the Checkout session id, and the paid status so we can mark the invoice paid and email you. Flat Invoice never holds funds and takes no percentage. Refunds and disputes are between you, your client, and Stripe.

Cookies and the Meta Pixel

A session cookie keeps you signed in. We use the Meta Pixel on the marketing site to measure ads. The pixel can set cookies and send Meta information about the pages you visit, such as that you landed on Flat Invoice. You can block it with your browser or Meta’s own controls.
